2007-2008 brought performances by VisionIntoArt at Performance Space 122, Joe’s Pub, the Stone in NYC, and internationally in Russia, Serbia, and Italy. We began the new project, VioLens, with VIA, a performance art opera–we are calling it transmedia–which includes new music, sculptures, animation, painted sets, video work, spoken word, and electro-acoustic music. VioLens is an interdisciplinary story that explores the mutation of three fictitious children’s tales and their real life counterparts; it plays upon the threshold of humor and horror, manipulating the disturbing effects of misbehavior into symbolic actions, both delightful and perverse. The stories focus on fire, food, and racism, the three themes inter-relating to create a work that questions society’s perceptions of morality, violence, and family. This work includes the VIA cast in collaboration with visual artists Erika Karrsch and Martha Colburn.
I also had performances with cellist Dave Eggar, the Kronos Quartet, the Parisian group Aleph, and the Verge ensemble in D.C.

brought performances in Italy at The EtnaFest in Sicily, and Teatro Manzoni in Milano, as well as a residency with the Whitney’s Education Program, Youth Insights, to create a site specific multi-media installation, and four performances on the Whitney Live! series. The summer concluded a 6 month residency at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space, and a year long residency at the Chelsea Art Museum, where we developed the new collaborative work Sounds, with VisionIntoArt. I also wrote an arrangement for the Kronos Quartet, which they played on their 9-11 concert-Awakening, in the US and on their European tour. I also had a performance of my work Oceano by cellist Joan Jeanreanaud on the opening night of the Festival of New American Music of, in Sacramento, California.
I also had 2 premieres at The Thalia Theater at Symphony Space in May-one with VisionIntoArt (VIA) for a live film scoring night, and one with Prism Quartet-I wrote a tenor sax solo for Matt Levy-Where the Blue Waves Rock, this work was also performed at Trinity Center for Urban Life, in Philadelphia.
